Business Resilience Manager

Job Profile

Main purpose of job

Responsible for the design and effective management of Asta’s operational resilience and disaster recovery framework and the oversight of Asta’s clients’ frameworks to ensure they are effective and compliant. Working closely with all key stakeholders to minimise the impact on Asta, our clients and their customers during periods of operational disruption.

Ensure all frameworks are compliant with UK and international regulations.

Key tasks

  1. Design and manage Asta’s Operational Resilience framework, working with internal stakeholders and clients to identify Important Business Services, map resources and set impact tolerances. 
  2. Increase awareness / focus on operational resilience across Asta and its clients by providing continued education & insights into best practice. 

  3. Design and manage Asta’s Business Continuity Planning Framework, working with internal teams and clients to embed, review and update their BCPs and business impact assessments at regular intervals.  
  4. Maintain crisis management and incident response procedures and execute the requirements of Operational Resilience and BCP in response to specific incidents.

  5. Develop and deliver the operational resilience and disaster recovery testing plans for Asta and clients working closely with IT to ensure technology risks are addressed.
  6. Ensure testing takes place to predefined schedule and remediate gaps identified from internal tests, risk events, near misses and audits.

  7. Prepare updates and reports for Boards and Committees including the annual Operational Resilience self-assessment for the Board.  
  8. Design and manage Asta’s framework for the oversight of critical and important outsourcers, ensuring that regulatory requirements are met.
  9. Monitor industry developments and good practice to ensure that Asta’s Outsource Frameworks are up to date and offer guidance to clients on operational resilience, disaster recovery and outsourcing.

  2. Confident communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication including effectively advising and briefing all levels, including C-Suite client stakeholders.  Able to persuade others to provide information and meet deadlines when there is no direct management authority.
  3. Self-starter: able to display initiative and work with autonomy to become the expert within the organisation.  Strives to seek out new networks and development opportunities, ensuring knowledge of current practices is up to date.
  4. Adaptability: Calm under pressure. Can adapt rapidly to changing priorities, deal with multiple tasks and work effectively in fast paced situations or in periods of crisis management.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

  1. Experience of managing business continuity, incident/crisis management, disaster recovery, ideally within the Lloyd’s market, as well as the management of outsourced companies that provide critical or important services.
  2. In-depth understanding of operational resilience industry standards and the step-up from traditional business continuity practices.
  3. Previous experience of presenting to senior management/boards.
