Vacancy: Senior infrastructure analyst

Job Profile

Main purpose of job
To provide 3rd line level support for Asta and its managed clients.
To proactively manage the IT infrastructure including hardware (SAN, Networking), software (VMWare) and Cloud to minimise business disruption.
To identify and drive projects to improve the quality and resilience of the Asta and external customer networks and security services.

Key tasks

  1. Proactively monitor both internal and external customer IT infrastructure services including hardware and software components and identify operational issues as early as possible.
  2. Resolve problems as identified through monitoring or escalated by the ServiceDesk and other IT staff in accordance with agreed procedures, standards and Service Levels and in a way to minimise business disruption.
  3. Ensure that all Infrastructure components (hardware, software and Cloud) are maintained at levels to best protect the IT Operational service.
  4. Plan and execute preventative maintenance activities to improve operational resilience.
  5. Undertake analysis of service trends and recommend service improvement initiatives / changes.
  6. Provide support to outsource providers in establishing a high level of service to the group.
  7. To undertake technology evaluations and recommendations for core infrastructure components.
  8. Maintain IT Security Policies and Processes and ensure IT Security Processes and Controls are complied across IT and the company.
  9. Plan, manage and undertake projects to deliver new Network and Security infrastructure services such as to meet agreed objectives. Such projects will be under the direction of IT management.
  10. Manage all assigned projects in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
  11. Support Disaster Recovery Test activities.
  12. Represent Asta Group IT in relevant technology/ IT Insurance forums.
  13. Contribute to the Asta Group IT Technology strategy.
  14. Be a proactive member of the Asta IT Team.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

  1. Experience in the following technologies - Virtualisation and SAN technologies - VMWare, Nimble; Networking – LAN and WAN, VLAN’s and Cisco; Security firewall – CheckPoint and Cisco ASA; Zerto, VMTurbo.
  2. Cloud experience – a good understanding of cloud concepts and experience of IaaS through Azure or iLand as well as SaaS, PaaS
  3. Microsoft technologies, Windows 2012 R2 and Windows 2016. MCSE preferred.
  4. Maintain software or hardware knowledge of products or solutions that are potentially of use to the organisation.
  5. Maintain skills in standards for service management, such as the ITIL.
  6. Display principles and best practice of quality systems, manuals, procedures and plans. Quality assurance and audit.
